Diverse America

“América Diversa” is not only a trip through the continent, but the possibility of listening to a repertoire with works that decipher what America sounds like these days. Latin American works are the protagonists in this presentation because Filarmed has wanted to make visible the talent of composers who are many and who rarely have the opportunity to be highlighted. 

The concert begins in Mexico, passes through Cuba, Colombia and ends in the United States. In the words of Tatiana Pérez-Hernández, director of the concert, this presentation celebrates the diversity of symphonic music created or inspired in America. It is an approach to the composers and folk music that represent each country.  

In Metro Chabacano the composer Javier Alvarez It seeks to represent the busyness and high influx of a Mexico City station that bears the same name as the work; Camerata Guaguancó of Guido López Gavilán, is a piece full of traditional Cuban rhythms and the work The goodbyes from the Colombian Juan David Osorio, has a melancholic and meditative character, and reflects on death. On the other hand, the “Of the New World” Symphony, is a reflection of North American folk music and recreates the curiosity and impressions that aroused in Antonín Dvořák reach this continent.
