Carlos Agreda in concert
Carlos Ágreda, recognized as one of the most dynamic conductors and composers of his generation and chosen as the designated winner of the Rotterdam International Conducting Competition, is coming to the Teatro Metropolitano and the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra’s Encuentros Season. This Saturday, August 28, Ágreda will conduct his work “Ay Caray!”, Introspección by Antonio Medellín, Serenade for Strings by Víctor Herbert, and Symphony No. 94 “La sorpresa” by Joseph Haydn at Filarmed.
I am very excited because I have never had the chance to hear the orchestra live since I do not live in Medellín. I have only listened to the wonderful virtual concerts they have done and I am aware of the impressive work that the orchestra has been doing throughout history, and especially in recent years. From the outside, it is perceived as a leading institution in the symphonic world in Latin America, concerned with artistic progress and the sustainability of our art. So, in addition to the fact that it is an honor for me to conduct this, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the country, I am full of enthusiasm to work with such renowned musicians and to share music with the Medellín public, which is such a beloved public!
