Fanfare, pomp and glitter
Fanfare is a musical form, of short duration and bombastic sound, which was usually used to announce the arrival of an important person or the beginning of new times. Fanfares are played by brass instruments, with occasional percussion accompaniment. Their name comes from the Mozarabic word “farfar” and shares its root with the word braggart. Since then, the timbre of brass instruments and trumpets in particular have been associated with royalty and power.
