Rock with purpose
Fundación 1+1 and Filarmed present tribute to rock bands
Rock has been nourished by academic music. The Beatles used in their compositions a modal system that comes from the Greeks and Jewish ditties and was used in the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. And Leonard Bernstein came to define Elvis as “the greatest cultural force of the 20th century”, in addition to using the music of The Beatles in his classes at the conservatory.
For twenty-six years Filarmed has made symphonic tributes to rock. The first of them was Queen in May 1995 and the second in October of that year with The Beatles, both concerts under the direction and arrangements of maestro Louis Clark. Later on, others came on the scene such as Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Pink Floyd and Guns N' Roses, and a collaboration with the progressive rock legend, Alan Parson Live Project.
