This concert is not just an invitation to listen to music. It is an emotional, spiritual, and aesthetic experience that unites cultures, times, and universal feelings. Viking Roots We propose a program that is lived rather than performed.
We'll be waiting for you on Saturday, June 15th, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Theater in Medellín. Here's why you shouldn't miss it:
- Because you'll hear a first: the dreamlike finale of Schubert's Unfinished Symphony.
Franz Schubert's Unfinished Symphony is one of the most mysterious and moving works in the symphonic repertoire. In this concert, we propose a different interpretation, a musical possibility constructed from authentic drafts by the composer and the composer. Entracte from his opera RosamundeIt's not about completing what Schubert didn't finish, but rather about imagining with respect and sensitivity what might have been.
- Because the cycle Back Songs Mahler's will sound with the maturity of a dream come true.
Austrian baritone Gunter Haumer dreamed of singing these Mahler songs since his formative years. Today, with a well-established career and a mature voice, he approaches the cycle with the honesty of someone who has lived long enough to understand its depth. “Today I have the technique and life experience to perform it honestly,” said the baritone.
- Because Mahler will be interpreted from his most human and emotional roots.
There are interpretations that are based on the technical and others that are built from experience. Gunter Haumer once interpreted Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen at the funeral of a relative of Gustav Mahler. That experience transformed his connection to the work. “It was like singing it at its roots,” he added.
- Because we'll travel from Scandinavian tradition to German Romanticism in a single concert.
This program connects landscapes and emotions that are born in different latitudes, but converge in the essential: the expression of the human soul. From BränningarA work that portrays the sea and wind of Northern Europe through sounds, through Mahler's lyrical introspection, and Schubert's unfinished and eternal symphony, this concert is an emotional journey through roots intertwined with beauty and depth. All under the direction of maestro Henrik Schaefer, who returns to Medellín with his sensitivity and experience leading the vocal-symphonic repertoire.
- Because we will hear the hymn to music.
At the end of the program it will sound And the Music, a simple and powerful work that is, in Gunter Haumer's words, "the art I live for." This song, which celebrates the solace music offers us on dark days, is a sort of epilogue that sums it all up: without grand gestures, but with a moving depth. Listening to it in this context will be an act of gratitude and communion between artists and audience.
