A sound journey between continents

Since the late 19th century, Sunday retreats have been a symbol of reunion and tradition in Medellín. On this occasion, the Filarmed Wind Ensemble, comprised of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, percussion, and horn, will offer a repertoire that combines the brilliance of universal European music with the energy and rhythm of tropical sounds, creating a concert full of contrasts and emotions.

The program includes the Allegro maestoso from Mozart's Serenade No. 11 and the energetic Finale: Presto from Beethoven's Wind Octet, Op. 103, along with the majestic Finale: Allegretto from Charles Gounod's Little Symphony for Winds. The audience will also enjoy Roland Dyens' Tango in skaï and Jaime Martínez's Surprise Wedding. To close, the ensemble will present a tribute to tropical sounds with special arrangements that evoke the warmth and festivity of Latin American music.

With this presentation, the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra seeks to strengthen the connection between the city, its history, and live music, consolidating Bolívar Park as a space for enjoyment and cultural encounter.

This concert is made possible thanks to the support of the Mayor's Office of Medellín and the sponsorship of Bancolombia.
