• The full orchestra's first international tour in 42 years drew nearly 34,000 attendees.
  • Four iconic stages, a diverse program, and Latin American symphonic talent took center stage.
  • Filarmed's versatility is reaffirmed as one of its main artistic strengths.

With a program ranging from contemporary Colombian music to the great works of the European repertoire, including a symphonic fusion with Latin rock, the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra successfully concluded its first international tour. Between May 20 and 24, 2025, Filarmed performed in four venues across Argentina, bringing together nearly 34,000 people in Buenos Aires and Rosario.

Teatro Colón:

The tour began at the iconic Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, where on May 20th, works by Colombian composers such as Juan David Osorio and Ludsen Martinus were performed, and the double concerto for viola and bandoneon by Argentine Daniel Ruggiero premiered. This performance is a vivid example of the orchestra's commitment to promoting Latin American symphonic music and projecting it worldwide.

"This tour is wonderful for us and for symphonic music because it shows that symphonic music can be different, that it's not tied to one part of history but can be done with any type of music, and that's what we demonstrated in Argentina.". María Catalina Prieto Vásquez, executive director of Filarmed.

Movistar Arena:

On May 21 and 22, the orchestra performed at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires alongside the renowned Uruguayan band No Te Va Gustar, in two sold-out concerts. The performances were charged with emotion and meaning, not only due to the size of the stage and the audience, but also due to the band's decision to enlist Filarmed for this collaboration. Despite the logistical challenges involved in transporting more than 60 musicians and their equipment from Colombia, No Te Va Gustar expressed that these concerts would only be meaningful if they were performed with Filarmed.. A gesture that represents profound artistic recognition and takes on even greater value in a country with a distinguished orchestral tradition like Argentina.

The Circle Theater:

The tour concluded at the El Círculo Theater in Rosario with a program dedicated to Verdi, Respighi, and Dvořák, which demonstrated the orchestra's masterful interpretation of the European classical repertoire.

The tour not only marked a historic milestone as the orchestra's first international outing in its 42-year history, but also once again demonstrated Filarmed's versatility, capable of taking on diverse musical and performing challenges in a single week with the highest artistic quality.

This tour was carried out in partnership with the Cultural Promoter of Proantioquia.
