Because singing in a choir is about listening to others, about breathing in unison, about building harmony through differences. And that, precisely, is what we want to sow in Medellín: a city where singing is done with respect, empathy, and talent.
At the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra, we believe in the transformative power of music. We believe, especially, in young people: in their voices, their strength, and their ability to imagine a different world. That's why we've opened our doors to a new generation to join our mission: Filarmed Youth Choir.
This isn't just an artistic call. It's an invitation to look inward, to recognize the value of one's own history, to redefine it through song. Because singing is also healing. It's also remembering, resisting, and dreaming.
We know that many young people have grown up amidst stories marked by conflict, fear, or silence. But we also know that there is immense strength in those who decide to transform that past into a song of hope. We saw this in our Reconciliation Choir, made up of victims of the conflict and signatories of the peace agreement. Now, with this new choir, we want that energy to spread to young people.
How to participate?
If you're between 14 and 28 years old, if music moves you, if you want to use your voice for something bigger, and you're interested in the topics of peace, reconciliation, and human rights, this space is for you. You don't need previous experience, just the desire to be there, to participate, to be part of something that goes beyond music. Here we don't just fine-tune voices; we fine-tune emotions, relationships, and futures.
Fill out the registration link and join us on Saturdays in May between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm at our headquarters in the El Cafetero section of the Belén neighborhood, at Carrera 66B # 32C 37. This will be a free, weekly gathering, full of meaning and sound. There, together, we will build a space for collective creation where music will be our common language, our tool for imagining peace and experiencing it in our everyday lives.
