The celebration of Medellín's 350th anniversary is an opportunity to rediscover its essence, where the colonial past and modernity coexist in an unmistakable musical framework. From the mango vendor's cry to the little bell of the popsicle cart, every corner of downtown vibrates with its own melody. The bells of the majestic Metropolitan Cathedral mark the rhythm of daily life, while the murmur of merchants and the music of record stores for collectors coexist with emerging businesses.
Bolívar Park, inaugurated in 1892, has witnessed countless cultural and social gatherings. From their beginnings, the Sunday retreats became an emblem of the city, offering Medellín residents moments of relaxation and connection through music. Known as the "music lover's mass," these retreats preceded the midday liturgy, consolidating the park as a meeting point for music lovers and passersby.
Music
The "Mozart for the Caribbean" concert pays tribute to this rich musical and urban tradition, with a repertoire that fuses the splendor of European classics with the vitality of Latin American rhythms. The program includes works such as Divertimento in D major by Mozart, Three Colombian dances by Fernando León and Caribbean landscapes by Ludsen Martinus, among other pieces that will evoke the diversity and spirit of the city.
Beyond music, this event reaffirms the importance of public space and democratic access to culture. In a year in which Medellín celebrates its history, Filarmed invites residents and visitors to make Bolívar Park a meeting point, where music and urban identity intertwine in harmony.
