Medellín, April 30, 2025 – In the midst of the difficult circumstances that the city is experiencing due to the heavy rains, the The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra—Filarmed—transforms its upcoming concert into an act of hope and solidarity. All funds raised from the concert ticket office The classics don't cry will be used to support the families most affected by the climate emergencies facing the city.

The appointment is this Friday, May 2nd, from 7:00 pm at the Metropolitan Theater, under the direction of the renowned Venezuelan director Glass Marcano and with the participation of the Colombian guitarist and composer Juan David Osorio. In addition to experiencing a night filled with Latin power and European sensitivity, the audience will be able to directly contribute to those most in need at this time.

“This isn't just a concert; it's an opportunity to turn music into action. We want to mobilize Medellín through culture and art to continue building community. Therefore, every ticket purchased will be a concrete contribution to the families affected. Music can heal, unite, and transform,” explained María Catalina Prieto Vásquez, executive director of Filarmed.

The collection will be managed through the Presentes Corporation, ensuring transparency and effective allocation of resources to the most affected communities.

About the concert:

The night opens with Kauyumari, by Gabriela Ortiz, winner of the 2025 Grammy Award. This spiritual work is inspired by the blue deer of the Huichol worldview and, through rich and symbolic orchestration, guides the listener on an inner journey of healing and hope. Next, we'll listen to Radiography, a concerto for requinto guitar and strings, composed by Juan David Osorio. This piece traces an emotional map that explores introspection and cultural roots, fusing the sound of the Colombian requinto with contemporary orchestral textures.

The program culminates with the Symphony No. 3 “Scottish” by Felix Mendelssohn, a work inspired by the geography and spirit of Scotland. Its immersive musical narrative evokes misty landscapes, energetic dances, and a profound romantic sensibility.

Music has the power to transform realities, and this concert is an opportunity to do so together. Buy your ticket, invite your friends and family, and let's make this evening a collective act of hope for the neighbors who need us today.
