Music
This program takes us on a sound journey through different ways of understanding the world:
Roots to infinity IV, of Claudia Sofía Álvarez, immerses us in a soundscape where nature comes to life through the strings. The work is born in silence and expands into a musical journey that is abstract yet deeply evocative. First, the sounds evoke how the roots of trees in the Peruvian rainforest intertwine underground, forming an invisible yet powerful network. Then, the music rises, like branches unfolding and reaching new heights. The music takes us from the earth to infinity, reflecting the natural cycle with unique strength and sensitivity.
The Great Russian Easter Overture of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov It is a tribute to the Orthodox liturgy and an expression of Russian spirituality. Through its melodies, the work alternates between the solemnity of prayer and the festive ecstasy of Easter, reflecting profound devotion and a crescendo of hope and renewal.
The Symphony No. 2 “The Four Temperaments” of Carl Nielsen It is a work that portrays human emotional diversity. Each movement represents a distinct temperament: choleric (intense and dramatic), phlegmatic (serene and contemplative), melancholic (nostalgic and lyrical), and sanguine (jovial and vibrant). Nielsen transforms the psychology of personality into a fascinating musical journey.
The director
Alejandra Urrutia has conducted important orchestras in Europe and the Americas, distinguished by her passionate performance and focus on emotional connection with the audience. This concert is an invitation to discover the connections between nature, faith, and the human condition through music. As Alejandra Urrutia puts it: “Every note, every silence, and every gesture of the orchestra speaks to us of who we are, of our roots, and of our infinite desire to transcend.”
