Medellín vibrated with an unprecedented fusion on February 9 and 10, 2025. The emblematic Uruguayan band You Won't Like It (NTVG) and the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra (Filarmed) They united their talents to offer two unforgettable nights, marking the closing of the band's 30th anniversary tour. 

On the first date, from early hours, the lobby of the Metropolitan Theater was filled with fervent followers of NTVG, who, with overflowing emotion, sang at the top of their lungs the songs that have accompanied their lives. Fans from various latitudes, from cities in the United States such as New York and Washington, to corners of Colombia such as Bucaramanga, Bogotá, Cali and, of course, Medellín, gathered to be part of this historic event. 

Both concerts opened with a prelude by Filarmed, a composition by Jesús David Caro that intertwined elements of “No necesito nada” and “Chau,” reimagined with the depth of a baroque fugue and the evocative intensity of Shostakovich. As the curtain slowly opened and the anticipation grew, the music enveloped the audience in a sonic embrace, preparing them for the unforgettable synergy that was about to unfold.

For two hours, more than 70 musicians On stage, they took the audience on a journey through the anthems that have marked three decades of NTVG. Songs like “A las nueve”, “Tan Lejos”, “Chau” and “De nada sirve”, which lead their Spotify, took on a new dimension with the symphonic arrangements of Jesús David Caro and Julio César Sierra, amplifying their emotional charge and resonating deeply in the hearts of the audience. For the encore, the band and orchestra surprised with “Cero a la izquierda” and “No era cierto”, closing the night with an endless ovation.

For Emiliano Brancciari, leader of NTVG, this collaboration was “a caress to the ear, epic and delicious.” Celebrating three decades of career with Filarmed in Medellín, a city that has always welcomed them with open arms, was the perfect end to their tour. “Medellín has been a very special place for the band, and we have always had a very special connection with the public. I hope we celebrate many more anniversaries,” said Brancciari. 

The audience, visibly moved, lived a sublime experience. For many, it was their first encounter with a symphony orchestra, and the combination of NTVG's energy with the grandeur of Filarmed created unforgettable moments. Clara María Gómez, a native of eastern Antioquia, shared: “Seeing the essence of an orchestra united with my favorite band was a unique moment in my life.” 

María Catalina Prieto, executive director of Filarmed, highlighted the versatility of the orchestra and its commitment to embracing new genres: “It was a dream come true that began more than a year ago. No Te Va Gustar was a band that we thought could be greatly enriched by its range of genres. It was a very beautiful work, something very powerful, we never imagined the dimension of how it could sound.” 

This meeting not only celebrated the legacy of NTVG, but also placed the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra in the international spotlight for its ability to adapt and its openness to new musical proposals. These were two nights that will remain etched in the memory of more than 3,200 attendees, who witnessed a powerful fusion between Latin rock and symphonic music. 

This synergy was tangible proof of how music, in all its forms, can be intertwined to create transcendental experiences, reaffirming the power of artistic collaboration and the universality of its language.
