The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra has been pre-nominated for the first time to the prestigious India Catalina Awards 2025 in the category Best Musical ProductionThis recognition highlights the artistic quality and musical versatility of Filarmed, as well as its commitment to the dissemination and strengthening of the Latin American academic music in its programming. 

The pre-nomination was awarded for the concert of the season “Connections” 2024, broadcast by Teleantioquia, a production that reaffirmed the orchestra's innovative stamp and its ability to connect with the audience through diverse repertoires of great artistic depth. 

A concert that made history 

Under the direction of Ana María Patiño-Osorio, the orchestra offered a program that fused symphonic tradition with the musical richness of Latin America. The performance featured soloist John Fredy Rojas “Chikipercussion”, and a repertoire that included the Leonora Overture No. 3 of Beethoven and the vibrant Concert for congas and orchestra by Carlos Medina, highlighting the role of Latin American academic music in the symphonic scene. 

Ana María, originally from The Union, Antioquia, returned from European stages to conduct this concert, showcasing the strength and potential of Antioquian talent. For his part, John Fredy, a full-time musician at Filarmed and trained at the music school of Ciudad Bolívar, embodied the potential of the musical incubators of the municipalities of Antioquia as a platform for artists with international reach. 

A recognition that transcends 

This pre-nomination is the result of a rigorous selection process, endorsed by more than 12 associations and guilds of the audiovisual industry and audited by the firm JAHV McGregorWith this achievement, Filarmed reaffirms its impact on the country's cultural and audiovisual scene, consolidating itself as a Orchestra of the Future: Innovative, inclusive, and an ambassador of Latin American academic music. 

Filarmed celebrates this recognition and reaffirms its commitment to continue bringing the diversity and excellence of symphonic music beyond its borders.

The nominees for the 41st India Catalina Awards 2025 will be announced on March 21st, and the big awards ceremony will be held on April 5th in Cartagena. We continue to celebrate the talent that brings our music to life!
