Impacto Social
La música que transforma vidas
Nuestros programas sociales llevan a la Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín mucho más allá de los teatros, convirtiendo cada nota en una herramienta de transformación.

In the metropolitan area of Medellín, music is not just heard—it changes lives. The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra – Filarmed develops social programs that bring symphonic music to metropolitan communities, turning each note into a tool for community transformation.
We create spaces where children and youth across the metropolitan area discover their talent and their voice. Where people affected by violence find a place to heal and dream again. Where music becomes a bridge for reconciliation, emotional well-being, and community building.
The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra reaches schools, hospitals, and neighborhoods throughout the Aburrá Valley with the power of music as a vehicle of hope. Whether in Medellín, Envigado, Itagüí, Bello, or any other municipality in the region—we are there with Filarmed, because we believe everyone deserves to be part of the symphony.
Every chord played by our orchestra can be the beginning of a new story of social transformation in the metropolitan communities of our region.
Each of these stories is a symphony in progress. Your donation is the note that ensures the music never stops. Become a protagonist in this transformation.
Estos son los programas que materializan nuestra misión. Cada uno es una invitación a creer, a participar y a transformar.
This is our pioneering program in inclusion and accessibility—a vital space for youth and adults with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. “I Am a Musician” is a free environment where over 100 people each year strengthen their musical identity, build community bonds, and reclaim a fundamental social space. To break down barriers, we bring our workshops to various municipalities in the Aburrá Valley, improving access for those facing challenges. This commitment earned us the prestigious Kennedy Center Award in 2024, making us the first cultural organization outside the United States to receive it.
In a country seeking to heal its wounds, the Reconciliation Choir is one of our most powerful and essential initiatives. It is a space where victims of the conflict and signatories of the peace agreements come together to sing. Its purpose is to reduce stigmatization, build bonds among participants, and inspire reflection in audiences to help ease polarization. With 25 to 30 members, the choir maintains a close relationship with entities such as the ARN and the JEP, becoming an active and present voice in the city’s peacebuilding ecosystem.
The Urabá Youth and Children’s Philharmonic Orchestra aims to provide music education to children and teenagers in the banana-growing region of Urabá, Antioquia, with the goal of contributing to their holistic development. Through music, the program fosters cognitive, emotional, and social skills, while promoting self-esteem, creativity, and a sense of belonging. The Orchestra seeks to make a positive impact on the lives of its participants and their communities. It operates in Carepa, Apartadó, Chigorodó, and Currulao, offering music initiation and orchestral training classes.
This is our most recent line of work, created to promote well-being through music. Through a partnership with the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley, we will bring this initiative of promotion and prevention to educational institutions across nine municipalities. In addition, in collaboration with the Medellín Metro, we will carry out interventions within the transit system to commemorate Mental Health Month. These projects are part of a global concept that seeks to position the arts as a prescribed tool to improve people’s health and well-being.
Your contribution, no matter the size, becomes an instrument for a young person, a wellness workshop, or a rehearsal day for the Reconciliation Choir.
Discover how a strategic partnership can enhance your social responsibility goals, connect your brand with diverse audiences, and generate measurable, recognized impact.
The future of our programs and the reach of our impact depend on a community of believers: individuals and companies who understand that investing in culture is investing in the soul of the city.
We invite you to be more than a spectator. We invite you to be our partner in this mission.
