Since 2016, the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra has shown that music is more than art—it’s a powerful tool for social inclusion. “I Am a Musician” offers professional musical training to neurodivergent youth, creating artistic development spaces where each person can express their unique talent.
I Am a Musician” is the flagship inclusion program for people with disabilities and/or neurodivergences of the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra. With a methodology that combines music therapy and adapted music education, over 130 young people and adults develop musical, social, and emotional skills that transform their lives.
Comprehensive Development Through Music
Our participants don’t just learn instrumental techniques. Through 10 months of annual training, they develop:

Autonomy and sense of responsibility
Teamwork and community living
In 2024, the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra received the prestigious LEAD® Award for Emerging Leaders in Accessibility in the Arts from the Kennedy Center. This recognition positions Medellín as a Latin American leader in cultural social programs.
More than 30 young people currently participate in Soy Músico, developing their musical talent and sharing the stage with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín.
