Call Open Audition, Assistant Leader: Bassoon Row

The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra invites interested bassoonists to participate in the call for the position of Assistant Leader: Bassoon Row. 

Applicants must be professional musicians with an emphasis on bassoon or mastery in the same instrument, dYou must attach certifications of your studies and certifications of at least 3 years of orchestral experience in professional or amateur orchestras. If you are a foreign national, the applicant must have their immigration status up to date in order to be hired.    

Those interested in participating must register in the next link attaching the link with the required documentation. The call will consist of a pre-selection round and two in-person audition rounds. The first round of auditions will be held behind the scenes, according to the draw that will be held that same day. The second round, consisting of orchestral solos, will be performed without a curtain in random order by draw. The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra will provide the accompanying pianist for the first round of in-person audition. Each applicant will have the right to one hour of rehearsal, which will be assigned according to the availability of the accompanying pianist. Rehearsal times will be informed via email. 

Documents you must provide: 

• Identification document 
• Study certifications 
•  If you are a foreigner, provide the documentation valid or authorized by Colombia immigration to provide professional services in Colombia or a document stating that you are in the country legally.
• Certifications that demonstrate at least 3 years of experience as a musician in professional or amateur orchestras. 
• Link to the video with the complete repertoire of the selection round in the best possible quality, without audio cuts or edits. The video must have been recorded in the last 6 months before the closing date of the call and the instrumentalist must have piano or orchestra accompaniment if applicable. Remember that the video must remain public or unlisted so that the evaluating jury can access it. If the video cannot be opened by the jury, the participant will be disqualified.

• Registration opening: June 21, 2022 
• Registration closing: July 22, 2022 
• Publication of the list of those eligible for video evaluation: July 25, 2022 
• Publication of people summoned to audition in person: August 5, 2022 
• In-person auditions: August 17 and 18, 2022 
• Publication of results: August 22, 2022 

The auditions will be held at the headquarters of the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra, at the address Carrera 42 #8-00, Palermo Cultural, on August 17 and 18, 2022, in the afternoon. 

Participants must prepare the complete repertoire for this call, and the jury will be in charge of selecting the passages and movements that they must perform at the time of the audition. 

Note:The selected bassoon assistant will have a service provision contract that will initially run until December 2022.

The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra reserves the right to declare the seats deserted. The selected applicant will be linked through a contract to provide services as an Assistant Bassoon Leader as of September 1, 2022.  

If the selected applicant lives outside of Medellín, he or she must bear his or her relocation expenses.
