Call Assistant Leader: Bassoon Row
The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra is a private, professional orchestra with 39 years of experience, dedicated to transforming the city with music. In addition to performing 12 seasonal concerts a year, Filarmed performs different programming slots in unconventional settings such as churches, museums, outdoor stages, educational concert slots, chamber music, among others, covering repertoires ranging from symphonic music to genres as diverse as Colombian music, rock and pop tributes, children's music, etc., and using different formats within the orchestra's roster (full orchestra, reduced orchestra, chamber ensembles). In addition, it has social and educational programs in which the participation of the orchestra's musicians is expected in events such as school concerts, rehearsals and closing concerts of the different social programs (I am a Musician, Reconciliation Choir), among other activities that may emerge related. Filarmed seeks to be a 21st century orchestra with innovative and bold musicians, which seeks closeness with its audiences through different audience training and awareness strategies.
The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra invites interested bassoonists to participate in the call for the position of Assistant Leader: Bassoon Row. Applicants must be professional musicians with an emphasis on bassoon or mastery of the same instrument. You must attach certifications of your studies and certifications of at least 3 years of orchestral experience in professional or amateur orchestras. If you are a foreign national, the applicant must have their immigration status up to date in order to be hired.
Those interested in participating must register in the next link , attaching the required documentation. The call will consist of a video pre-selection round, two rounds of in-person auditions and an interview. Both rounds will take place behind the scenes, on the same day and in accordance with the draw that will be held before starting the auditions for each of the rounds. The interview with the Human Talent area will be carried out by those who are eligible after the second round of auditions with a score equal to or greater than 85/100. The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra will provide the accompanying pianist for the first round of in-person audition. Each applicant will have the right to one hour of rehearsal, which will be assigned according to the availability of the accompanying pianist. The winner will join the orchestra from February 2023 with a service provision contract.

- Study certifications
- If you are a foreigner, your residence visa, immigration card or other document proving that you are in the country legally.
- Certifications that demonstrate at least 3 years of experience as a musician in professional or amateur orchestras.
- Link to the video with the complete repertoire of the pre-selection round on video in the best possible quality, without audio cuts or edits. The video must have been recorded within 6 months before the closing date of the call and the instrumentalist must have piano or orchestra accompaniment if applicable. Remember that the video must be left as public or unlisted so that the evaluating jury can access it. If the video cannot be opened by the jury, the participant will be disqualified.

- Publication of the list of those eligible for video evaluation: October 31, 2022
- Publication of people summoned to audition in person: November 7, 2022
- In-person auditions: November 18, 2022
- Interview: November 19, 2022
- Publication of results: November 22, 2022
The auditions will be held at the headquarters of the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra, at the address Carrera 42 #8-00, Palermo Cultural, on November 18, 2022, in the afternoon; the interviews in the same place, on November 19 in the morning.
Participants must prepare the complete repertoire for this call, and the jury will be in charge of selecting the passages and movements that they must perform at the time of the audition.

Participants selected to advance to the in-person audition round will receive via email the file with the scores of the orchestral solos that they must present. Participants who in the second round achieve a score equal to or greater than 85/100 will make up the list of eligible, who will be summoned for an interview with the Human Talent area. In this interview, the compatibility of the profile of the musician from the list of eligible candidates with the position to be held will be evaluated, understanding that the person who best fits the position will be selected.
The Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra reserves the right to declare the seats deserted. The selected applicant will be linked through a contract to provide services as an Assistant Bassoon Leader starting in February 2023.
If the selected applicant lives outside of Medellín, he or she must bear his or her relocation expenses.
