Concert I The carnival of the animals

Great children's concert Carnival of the Animals, by Camille Saint-Saëns.

The concert with which the Metropolitan Theater opens the cycle of Family Concerts of the Medellín Cultural International Classical Music Season. A spectacular production with the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra, two pianos, performed by Ana María Orduz and Carlos Eduardo Betancur, the international director Juan Felipe Molano and the narration of the Musical Theater of Colombia, with beautiful and unreal characters that will make everyone's imagination fly.

It will be a zoological adventure turned into music, with animals such as the lion, the swan, the hen, the roosters... and even pianists. Saint-Saëns made more than 400 musical works in which he tackled different musical genres. He was one of the first important composers to write music for cinema and one day, in 1886, he decided to make The Carnival of the Animals, a musical joke that Saint-Saëns himself did not want to be published while he was alive, and for that reason, it was only heard in small circles of those close to him.

It is composed of 14 small pieces. Except for the last one, all of them have names of animals and the music evokes them. Here it should be noted that the title of one of them is not exactly an animal, but Saint-Saëns made a joke by placing the pianists among the fauna of this work.

A concert to experience with the family and enjoy the excitement of live art.
