The loudest sound is silence

In music, silence is full of meaning. And as organizations that make music, the Medellín Philharmonic Orchestra and the Eafit Symphony Orchestra understand silence as a necessity in such terrible times as those that Colombia is facing today.

The loudest sound is silence. So we enter into silence as a call to listen, to reflect, to put ourselves in the place of others and especially to pay tribute to those who have died during the days of protest. We enter into silence as a demand for respect for life, and as a way of recognizing difference.

For this reason, we will not be presenting the concert that we had announced for this Saturday at seven in the evening. If we have tried to be a refuge during the last few months, on this occasion, rather than enjoying ourselves, we are proposing a space for reflection.

We invite those who usually join us in our virtual concerts to join our call this time as well. This symbolic moment will be broadcast at 7:00 pm through the Youtube channels of Filarmed and the EAFIT Symphony Orchestra and on the Facebook page of both institutions.

We hope that this pause of silence will contribute to respect for differences, respect for ideas and respect for life. And that music will return with hope.
