Music

The program “The Classics Don't Cry” is a sonic journey that intertwines roots, emotions, and landscapes through three powerful works. It begins with “Kauyumari” by Gabriela Ortiz, a piece charged with ritual force that dialogues with Mexican indigenous roots to propose a collective transformation through sound; a creation by one of today's most prominent composers, recent winner of the 2025 Grammy. It is followed by Radiography, by Colombian Juan David Osorio, a concerto for requinto and strings in three movements that explore personal reinvention, the emotional states experienced during the COVID-19 lockdown, and the richness of traditional rhythms such as bolero, bambuco, and joropo. The presentation closes with the majestic Symphony No. 3 “Scottish” by Felix Mendelssohn, a deeply romantic work that evokes the misty landscapes, legends, and historical melancholy of Scotland. Three distinct perspectives, one power: that of music to move us, transform us, and unite us.

The director

Venezuelan Glass Marcano is one of the most promising figures in orchestral conducting on the international scene. She began her training at El Sistema in San Felipe, Venezuela, and has since built a brilliant career that has led her to conduct important orchestras in Europe and Latin America. A finalist in the La Maestra competition in Paris in 2020—where she received the Orchestra Award—Marcano has graced stages such as the Musikverein in Vienna, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She is currently continuing her training at the Paris Conservatoire, while continuing to add debuts with prominent symphony ensembles. Her artistic approach combines emotional depth, collective energy, and a sincere connection with each work she performs.

The soloist

Juan David Osorio is a Colombian musician, composer, and researcher. Osorio has dedicated his career to taking the requinto to new heights, positioning it as a solo instrument in symphonic and contemporary contexts. His approach is a unique blend of tradition, innovation, and artistic sensibility.
